The Allure of An Iconic Image
“We have a need for enchantment that is as deep and devoted
as our need for food and water” – Derrick Jensen
Henry asserts, “It is an Icon” which is a portal, a sacred mirror and a two-way communications channel between the viewer and Christ. Through this lens, Leonardo created a technology whereby the spirit of Salvator Mundi could be transmitted.”
What is it that sacred art stirs within us? Henry asks, “Why do we hang images of Christ, Mary, Shiva, Buddha, etc. in our sacred spaces?” The answer lies in the fact that we subconsciously know that we learn through images. We use internal and external images to reflect back to us that which we wish to experience in our world.
Not only do these images point the way, they reflect back to us a frequency and an energy that is actually embodied in the image. It is NOT the image that is to be worshipped, but the message of holiness, the message of the sacred, the idea of the Divine in humanity, that is to be valued, respected and revered.
“The world is full of MAGIC things, patiently waiting
for our senses to grow sharper.”
